Demiliza Saramosing is a Pilipinx scholar-activist from Kalihi, Hawai’i. Growing up in Kalihi, home to predominately working-class Pilipinx and Pacific Islanders, has shaped her commitment towards social justice for underrepresented communities.
Demiliza has recently received her B.A. in Ethnic Studies and Journalism from the University of Oregon. In Fall 2016, she will be pursuing her M.A. degree at UCLA’s Asian American Studies program. Demiliza’s substantial experiences in social justice activism, digital storytelling and research has informed her interests in U.S. empire, white supremacy, Asian Settler Colonialism, Pilipinx Studies, Native Pacific Cultural Studies, Native and Women of Color Feminisms and comparative colonialisms.
